Buzzwords De-Buzzed: 10 Alternative Ways To Say Robot Vac

Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency you have to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has an enormous bin that needs to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with children or pets. Many of the best performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.

In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households however, it can also fit in well next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can move it around like the magic wand.

Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to get every single area (though the second time around usually does the trick). However, this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of automation features.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested which could be a problem for some shoppers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning.  robot vacuum cleaners  allows you to check in on pets or children when you're away from home. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app allows you to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border without registering the cliff. And the ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
